Visual novel set in the future

Far from the usual slice-of-life or adult genres of visual novel games, Chronicles from 4.012 takes the player to a future on the brink of an environmental collapse. Developed by Toxic Squad, this free-to-play, episodic multi-choice title lets you navigate through a dystopian world teetering on the fine balance between the oldest forces of good and evil — angels and devils.

Chronicles from 4.012 allows you to pick the gender and customize your character’s name. Then, you are plunged right into the role-playing game, having you make choices that will significantly affect the outcome of your fate.

A dystopian wonder

In Chronicles from 4.012, you don’t just play a game but also live an experience. It features a narrative so powerful and immersive, that it will redefine the way otome-style visual novel games are perceived. Plus, you’re granted the freedom to explore the rich history of this dystopian world, meeting ancient supernatural creatures. Against this grand backdrop, of course, you’re still given the intimate opportunity to craft your own love story.

There are nine main characters to meet, each with interesting personalities and gorgeous sprite art. Pursuing romantic routes with all of them is possible, though some may be tougher to be with than others. On the other hand, there are three character alignments — human, angel, and devil. There’s also a Morality System that brings depth to the gameplay and consequences of your actions and choices. As you progress through the story, you can also unlock new images per episode.

What makes the game even better is that, thanks to the alignment system, the player isn’t required to make “good” choices all the time. Furthermore, the visual novel is also available in two languages: English and Spanish. While this selection is limited, it can still cater to a large player base. Other cons include infrequent bugs, errors in save files, and some inconsistencies in the characters’ personalities.

Worth checking out despite the caveats

Overall, Chronicles from 4.012 reinvents the future visual novel game landscape by offering a deeply immersive dystopian experience. Its compelling narrative, character customization, and diversified character alignments take player engagement to a new dimension, while the Morality System adds a layer of depth and consequence to gameplay. Despite minor issues with bugs, save file errors, and occasional character inconsistencies, the game stands as a unique and enriching addition to the otome-style visual novel offerings.

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
